FAQ
How much do you charge?
SNAP/Bite offers a standard bid that can be negotiable. In general, we offer a per-hour cost for work done, and a separate pricing for final products. We are open to long-term retainer agreements. If we agree on a rate & terms, great. If not, we wish you the best of luck finding a copywriter perfect for your needs.
What exactly am I paying for?
Retainer: This reserves the writer's time to do research before beginning your project.
Sitting fee (includes Retainer): This covers Writer's time brainstorming & drafting.
Per-image: Covers Photographer's time for making polishing adjustments to the final draft.
[Note: For clients with a Retainer agreement, terms may differ.]
(And of course, the writer's expertise & any overhead).
What's in your contract?
Contracts set expectations and establish protections for the copywriter and Client. The terms needed may vary between bookings, so read thoroughly and ask questions BEFORE signing. We're happy to walk you through things. If the contract cannot be agreed upon, we wish you the best of luck finding a copywriter who is perfect for your needs.
Where are you based and do you travel?
SNAP/Bite is based in SLO, but willing to travel to adjacent areas based on the situation.
When will we get our Copy?
This will vary depending on the type of copy. When discussing details, please be very clear about your needs and deadlines. No drafts will be released prior to payment.
How many drafts will we receive?
As many or as few as you choose to purchase from those that meet SNAP/Bite quality standards.
What if I don't like any of my drafts?
For per-copy purchasers, you don't have to buy any! The amount you pay pre-delivery is to cover the cost of time for preparation, research, & drafting. If you love the SNAP/Bite portfolio, this is an investment you are happy to make. If you don't like some or all of your drafts, you have the option to not purchase those drafts.
If you are a Retainer client, we'll be happy to chat with you about options.
What if I want more drafts than my budget allows?
Custom rates may be requested & negotiated PRIOR to writing.
A post-write option would be to purchase some now, and some later. SNAP/Bite typically keeps drafts available for 6 months so you have time to make subsequent purchases if you wish. "There are so many good ones- can't I just pay less and get them all?" is not fair to both parties, and remember- at SNAP/Bite, fairness goes both ways. Sorry, we don't accommodate payment plans.
Who is your ideal client?
Clients who are creative, easygoing, proactive, and gracious are top-shelf! Subjects who actually want to participate and add to the collaborative efforts are a dream come true. And people who value the time & expertise of the writer are greatly appreciated.
What is your customer service style?
Clear communication is key. In that spirit, we are friendly, polite, and casual in normal exchanges. But we won't walk on eggshells, and we won't tolerate mistreatment. We are solution-oriented so if you have a need, ask nicely and we'll see what we can do. Claim "the customer is always right", and it's a sign that we're not a good fit because at SNAP/Bite, fairness goes BOTH ways.
