It is not SNAP/bite policy to renegotiate pricing after images have been captured.

Lower/hr + higher/image is better if you need a select number of photos.

Higher/hr + gallery included is better if you want lots of photos.

FAQ

How much do you charge?

SNAP/bite offers a standard bid that can be negotiable. In general, we offer a pricing structure of lower-per-hr + more-per-image (better if you only need a few images), or higher-per-hr + less-per-image options (better if you want a lot of images). If we agree on a rate & terms, great. If not, we wish you the best of luck finding a photographer perfect for your needs.

What exactly am I paying for?

Retainer: This reserves Photographer's time on the date for your shoot.
Sitting fee (includes Retainer): This covers Photographer's time capturing images and sorting through those images for quality control.
Per-image: Covers Photographer's time for editing the image(s). [Note: For packages that offer full gallery, this is included in the per-hour fee- that's why it's so much higher].
(And of course, the photographer's expertise & any overhead).

What's in your contract?

Contracts set expectations and establish protections for the photographer and Client. The terms needed may vary between bookings, so read thoroughly and ask questions BEFORE signing. We're happy to walk you through things. If the contract cannot be agreed upon, we wish you the best of luck finding a photographer who is perfect for your needs.

Where are you based and do you travel?

SNAP/bite is based in SLO, but willing to travel to adjacent areas based on the situation.

When will we get our photos?

For per-image purchasers, you will receive an online gallery link via email with all your unedited/ lightly-edited photos that meet SNAP/bite standard of quality within maximum 2 weeks after your Sitting Fee balance is paid or the images are captured (whichever comes later) so you can choose which images you intend to purchase. They will be edited within 4 weeks from the date you selected them (subject to quantity and circumstance), and the gallery updated so you may choose/ confirm which ones you would like to purchase. Once payment is confirmed, your order will be approved and should be available within 48 hours.
For full gallery purchasers, expect your gallery within 6 weeks after your sitting fee is paid or the images are captured (whichever comes latest).

How many pictures will we receive?

As many or as few as you choose to purchase from those that meet SNAP/bite's quality standards. Note: Requests for unedited or RAW files should be made before signing the contract.

What if I don't like any of my photos?

For per-image purchasers, you don't have to buy any! The amount you pay pre-shoot is to save your spot and cover the cost of time for preparation, shooting, and sorting. If you love SNAP/bite's portfolio, this is an investment you are happy to make. If you don't like some or all of your images, you have the option to not purchase those images.
If you are a full gallery purchaser, we'll be happy to chat with you about options.

What if I want more images than my budget allows?

Custom rates may be requested & negotiated PRIOR to capturing the images.
A post-capture option would be to purchase some now, and some later. SNAP/bite typically keeps photos available for 1 year so you have time to make subsequent purchases if you wish. "There are so many good ones- can't I just pay less and get them all?" is not fair to both parties, and remember- at SNAP/bite, fairness goes both ways. Sorry, we don't accommodate payment plans.

Who is your ideal client?

Clients who are creative, easygoing, proactive, and gracious are top-shelf! Subjects who actually want to participate and add to the collaborative efforts are a dream come true. And people who value the time & expertise of the photographer are greatly appreciated.

What is your customer service style?

Clear communication is key. In that spirit, we are friendly, polite, and casual in normal exchanges. But we won't walk on eggshells, and we won't tolerate mistreatment. We are solution-oriented so if you have a need, ask nicely and we'll see what we can do. Claim "the customer is always right", and it's a sign that we're not a good fit because at SNAP/bite, fairness goes BOTH ways.

What can I do with my photos?

This depends on the terms we agree on. Per US Copyright law, it's illegal to print, re-sell, use for promotional purposes, publish, or allow others to use for promotional purposes, etc. without the permission of the copyright holder (SNAP/bite/ me). Just because you hired me, you bought them, or you're in them doesn't automatically mean that you legally own or can grant the rights to their use. That being said, OF COURSE I WANT YOU TO BE ABLE TO USE THEM AS YOU NEED! So we'll talk terms and come up with something that works for both of us.
